The Alchemy of Voice
Angelic Sound Healing through the
transformative energy of the Voice with
STEWART PEARCE
For as long as I can remember I have been enchanted by the sound of the human voice. This began as a very young child when I literally saw sound as well as hearing its vibration, and as sound lies at the core of creation I experienced an inclusivity of being enraptured by the multi-dimensional Universe. I felt life by surfing on waves of sound, color and light, which I slowly began to interpret as meaning and context.
I didn't speak through the first few years of life, this closed me to an interior existence, whilst on the outside, the easy flow of force constantly expanded my energy, and I saw the Elemental Spirits and Angels of the natural world, which enthralled me.
Then as a young man I was praised for the healing quality of my voice, whilst luxuriating in the sound baths of great Poet's word music, and showing promise in this, became an Actor with a deep fascination for Shakespeare's Bardic tone. Subsequently, I worked in Repertory Theatres up and down the country.
In 1980 my dear Mother suddenly passed into spirit, and as the wheel of fortune turned I was given an opportunity to develop a laboratory of voice work at one of Britain's premier Drama Schools.
THE ALCHEMY OF VOICE was given to me via divine transmission, whilst visiting Glastonbury Tor. I felt moved to reconnect with the wondrous force emerging from this powerful earth energy centre - the Heart Chakra of our planet. Little did I know that I would encounter the Orb-like plasma of twelve illumined beings, who gave their identity as the 'Angels of Atlantis', and who inspired me to create a temple of sound healing.
The canon of work we live in this temple of sound healing arises from the intelligence and compassion of the heart, and as a healing art was first enchanted in Atlantis and Egypt, where Priests helped to tune the personality of voice with the breath of soul. Sound creates harmonic flow throughout the twelve Chakras, and as such the vibrations powerfully activate the cells of our spiritual physique.
The Art of Alchemy is a spiritual philosophy that turns the mundane pollutions of the physical and emotional body into the divine attributions of true spiritual ascension. Alchemy is the elixir by which our whole being may be transformed into the enlightened love of our golden sun force, or Cosmic Spirit.
Communicating through the intellect alone means our voice resides in our head. However, when are breath-force is alive and feelings resonate through us, our voice vibrates through the whole of our body, and is magnetically drawn to our heart.
You see your voice is much more than just a physical means by which you express thought and feeling in order to gain the response you desire. Your voice reflects your creative presence in the world, and thence your personal power. We have all heard the voice that resounds with articulate ease, full of personal sovereignty, as opposed to the voice that is weak with nervousness and disempowerment.
TASK ONE: THE CEREBRAL VOICE
The following exercise illustrates what happens when we live in our heads:
1.Take a moment to feel where you are breathing in your body. If the breath is high in your chest, you will feel tense and anxious. If you are breathing widely and deeply through the smoother breath rhythm in your ribs and abdomen, you will feel present and free.
2.Notice where your tongue is, within your mouth. If you are tense it will be raised and arched tightly against the roof of your mouth. If you feel freedom the tongue will sit gently in your mouth, and your jaw will feel loose.
3.Now squeeze the back of your tongue up hard onto the roof of your mouth and say very tightly GE, GE, GE. You will feel the whole of the sound trapped in your head and throat. It will sound nasal and constricted.
4.Now release the back of your tongue and breathe widely and deeply, sound AH once or twice. Let your tongue lie flat in your mouth, and very gently on the edge of a deep breath hardly move the back of your tongue and say GE, GE, GE. You will feel the resonance of your voice through your whole torso, rich in timbre, easy in quality, and with a feeling that you own the power of it. Many people feel the sound almost like 'matter' on this awakening.
The ancient peoples of our planet believed that all creation was accomplished by sound and that the earth itself came into being through the power of sound; a sound that moved and still moves through every aspect of creation.
We each have a unique, authentic sound at the core of our physical geometry: this I call our 'signature sound'. When we use this note, we sound through the heart as the locus of our body. Then, this signature note is amplified in the chambers of our body and so creates resonance. This produces harmonics identifying the quality of voice or tone. To illustrate this, imagine the sun’s light shining through a prism, as the one light refracts many colors are emitted
TASK TWO: FINDING YOUR SIGNATURE SOUND.
1. Check that you are in your sacred space. Switch on voicemail, light a candle, burn incense and play soft ambient music, checking your body feels free and your weight well balanced, and your spine is aligned. You can do this either sitting down, or lying on the floor in a semi-supine position. Make sure your environment will not be disturbed.
2. Firstly, breathe out through your lips, and then in a moment breathe in through your nostrils, deeply into your body. Imagine that the breath is light filling your body from the top of your spine to its base. Be careful that you don't push the breath into your body, but rather feel it filling wide into the ribs, and then deep into your abdomen.
3.Then, on the breath HUM into the centre of your forehead, a note that resonates in that part of your body. See it like a light centered in your vestigial third eye, and then move it downwards.
4.If you need to, breathe in again, find the note and then move the sound down through your spine (like an elevator moving through its shaft), and when you get to your heart, breathe in again and sound out on AH - the Heart Vowel.
5.This note when positioned accurately will give you a sense of your self - robust, warm, fully owned and true.
6.You will possibly need to try this several times to become easy with the feeling.
7. Have faith that this is true, and speak a favorite line of verse like:
“TIGER, TIGER BURNING BRIGHT, IN THE FORESTS OF THE NIGHT”

8. Try this again with someone who knows you well, and discuss what you feel about your voice: how it reflects your whole energy or not? Is this the sound you truly want?
